# Inventory > On-hand, reserved, and available stock, shortages, reservations, releases, and movement history. - Canonical HTML: [https://syncroplan.com/en/docs/inventory](https://syncroplan.com/en/docs/inventory) - Language: English - Roles: owner, manager - Keywords: inventory, stock, reservation, shortage, IN, ADJUST, release ## Outcome You will record deliveries, correct stock, and cover order material requirements. ## Before you start - Defined material types. - For reservations, an order containing material requirements. ## Menu path Menu → Inventory ## Step-by-step instructions 1. Under Material receipt, choose Material, enter Quantity and an optional Reason, then select “Add delivery”. 2. Under Stock adjustment, choose a material, enter Target on hand, and select “Run adjustment”. 3. Under Order reservations, select an order and choose “Reserve” to allocate its complete available requirement. 4. Choose “Release” to return active reservations to available stock. 5. Review Stock, Material shortages, and Movement history; use “Refresh data” after concurrent updates. ## What you see on screen - On hand is physical stock, Reserved belongs to orders, and Available equals On hand minus Reserved. - Shortages show total requirement, affected orders, and missing quantity. - History distinguishes Receipt, Issue, Reservation, Release, and Adjustment with date and user. ## Effects of changes - IN increases On hand and Available; ADJUST sets target stock and may release reservations that no longer fit. - Reservation increases Reserved and reduces Available without changing On hand. - Planned → Ready automatically reserves only when the full order is covered. ## Important warnings - A downward stock adjustment may release reservations. Read the result message before continuing production planning. ## Common problems ### Materials cannot be reserved. Reservations are all-or-nothing for the order; add stock for every missing item. ### Available is lower than On hand.
